- Indigenous Permaculture Project, Oakland, California
- Grant to support a free community-based seed saving conference held at the Intertribal Friendship House in October of 2008. The conference created space for Native American and Latino Communities to build on native traditions of working with all relations to be self-sustainable and in balance with the environment. This event provided the opportunity for native communities to be involved in the dialogue, learning and action around social justice and ecology issues.

- Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA), Oakland, California
- Grant to support development of a sustainable community garden in the lot outside MUA's office in the Fruitvale District in Oakland. The garden will be a space where immigrant women and their children can practice traditional farming methods, grow food together as a community, and develop ecological literacy in an urban immigrant community context. This garden will showcase sustainable water and farming practices, and develop a model for food security in the Fruitvale District.

- Grant to support the MUA garden - a space where immigrant women and their children practice traditional farming methods and develop ecological literacy in an urban immigrant community context. The project will incorporate therapeutic gardening practices for women who are survivors of trauma and domestic violence, activities for children to reconnect to the environment, and popular education workshops highlighting the intersections of race, class, gender and the environment.

- Partnership for Immigrant Leadership and Action (PILA), San Francisco, California
- Grant to support the implementation of PILA's online resource center - "Build the Wheel" - in order to disseminate ecological justice tools to grassroots organizations in the Bay Area and beyond. PILA will also be developing a manual for community organizers, service workers, and educators who are interested in leading trainings on the interrelationship between immigration and ecology for the purposes of helping build social justice movements.

- People Organizing to Demand Environmental and Economic Rights (PODER), San Francisco, California
- Grant to support a strategic planning process to deepen PODER's analysis of the current environmental and economic challenges facing constituencies as well as chart a path for movement work over the next few years. PODER is an environmental justice organization that has been organizing with low-income Latino immigrants for 18 years around urban land reform, immigrant rights, environmental health, youth empowerment and civic engagement. Through the strategic discussions, PODER anticipates articulating their work in a holistic environmental justice framework that provides guidance to future organizing and grassroots advocacy.

- People Organized to Win Employment Rights (POWER), San Francisco, California
- Grant to support the implementation of a community garden and environmentally sustainable products and practices in POWER's new office space. The garden will help POWER's Youth Program to connect critical local issues to ecological crises, to teach local food production and sustainability, as well as use the food to test-run cooking classes. By helping to incorporate sustainable living practices into POWER's everyday work within working class communities of color, a model will be provided for other local organizations and businesses in the community.

- Serve The People Oakland, California
- Grant to support integrating ecological justice into the structure of Serve The People. The organization is planning a three day gathering for a group of 30 young people that would cover ecological justice issues and how they tie into Asian traditional culture and ways of life - spiritual belief systems, growing food and connection to land, traditional calendars and important celebrations. Serve The People strives to develop the awareness that reclaiming one's roots is about reclaiming one's relationship with earth, spirit, and each other.
